GMT is an initiative committed to breaking social norms and helping other individuals do the same by providing judgement free fun hands-on workshops to challenge stereotypes, promote independence, and increase confidence and we start with cars as it is something we either drive or sit in everyday.
Our vision is to provide not only the technical skills but to instill confidence in young kids and women’s knowledge of car mechanics, turning them into confident drivers and smarter consumers.
We also do corporate workshops to give employees a chance to feel empowered and work together with their coworkers to complete tasks promoting a healthy collaboration.

Our programs are built on years of experience, tested curriculum, and a passion for empowering women and youth through real-world skills. Every session is guided by knowledgeable instructors who create a supportive, judgment-free environment. With a proven track record and previous collaborations with Continental Tires, Pirelli Tires, Gulf Oil, Arabian Automobiles Centre, Nissan DXB, AWRostamani, etc and our international reach, we’re not just teaching maintenance we’re changing mindsets.
The Founder -
Jowana Burgan
Jowana is a Mechanical Engineering graduate with a huge passion for educating and empowering women in the automotive world. Back when she was at just the age of 21, Jowana initiated the Girls Mechanic Team, where she ran hands-on workshops to teach women the basics of car maintenance.
Today Jowana has taught over 2,000 women globally and continues to showcase what women are capable of in the automotive world by speaking, interviewing, creating content and at the same time she showcases lifestyle content to present different brands in an engaging matter.
Jowana is very enthusiastic to build awareness and empower women through education and training because she strongly believes that women with confidence have no limits to what they can be or achieve in life.
She is very proactive in networking, public speaking, and presenting for various events including Formula E in Saudi Arabia, Icons of Porsche in the UAE, Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Ferrari Festival in Jeddah.
She has also had the privelage of interviewing the likes of Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz, Guenther Steiner, Nasser Al-Attiyah, Matthieu Baumel, Mitch Evans, etc.

SO MUCH VALUE!
SO MUCH VALUE! I attended my first workshop with Jowana from the Girls Mechanic Team this past weekend and it was nothing short of amazing! What I loved most was the hands-on component of it. After Jowana's instruction, we were given the opportunity to apply what we learned on a number of different cars. We learned about all of the components under a car hood, how to boost a dead battery and how to change a tire! I also loved how we each received a package outlining what we were learning. I immediately stored it in my glove compartment. Super excited for the next workshop!

The teaching was amazing!
It is hard for me to believe that I have driven for 60 years with so little knowledge of a car’s mechanics. When I saw this workshop for women advertised I jumped at the chance of learning at least a little about how a car works. I was not disappointed! The teaching was amazing and even at my advanced age I felt comfortable and included. The class size and format lent itself to hands-on learning. It was actually a lot of fun and so well run. Every woman who drives needs to learn about their cars for safety, repair cost and confidence purposes. I highly recommend this workshop led by a delIghtful, respectful and knowledgeable teacher.

Attended their workshops in June 2019. Prior to attending I had minimal knowledge on vehicles and found doing work on them myself to be intimidating. Now, thanks to Jowana and her team, I feels tons more confident doing at least some basics on my own and better prepared for when I need to take my car in. I highly recommend GMT!
